Back To School List

Aug 8, 2019 | News

Back to school for me always meant shopping for clothes ahead of time. We got our supply list on the first day of school. Immediately following classes, we headed to the store.

Back To School Shopping 2019

In contrast, today teachers and/or the PTA post the supply list online before school starts. This makes it much easier for parents and kids to get what they need. As opposed to rushing in an afternoon with the rest of the town in order to fulfill that list.

Shopping lists are the other lists that need to be checked twice. In addition, pay close attention to your State’s tax-free weekend to plan well.

We took our daughter shopping to cross off some things on her list. Her excitement about buying a new backpack with a matching lunchbox/cooler, coupled with starting high school was easily felt.

Class Orientation

Remember to add the school orientation to your list as well. This is crucial for your kids to attend. Additionally, school lists are not only about shopping, but more about preparation. So what about the parents you ask?

Parent’s Back To School List

Parents must have their list as well. Here are some important things to consider:

  • Can of patience.
  • Box of humor.
  • Set of Grace’s NitFlix Shampoo and Conditioner to prevent lice.
  • Bag of healthy snacks to be ready for, “Mom/Dad, I’m hungry.”
  • A cloning kit for when you have to be at two events at the same time.
  • Case of water.
  • A magic wand for a healthy dinner already prepared at home.
  • An instruction manual for fostering independence.
  • Second can of patience.

Be Proactive

As a rule, lists are made to be prepared for something. In other words, be proactive, not reactive. Lastly, the start of school also brings lice outbreaks; hence, Grace’s NitFlix is on the list. You can read about how to protect and prevent your children from getting lice with the use of NitFlix, in my previous post.

In conclusion, shopping lists are more than school supplies. Make sure yours includes age appropriate safety tips for your children.

As always, I welcome your comments.
